Sample Letter to RE/MAX
Dear RE/MAX Office,
We are writing to you today to let you know that we deplore the fact that RE/MAX, LLC is profiting from the sale of properties in illegal West Bank settlements. We understand that RE/MAX Israel operates a RE/MAX office in the illegal settlement of Ma'ale Adumim in the West Bank. Furthermore, RE/MAX Israel sells properties in all the major West Bank settlements, including: Adam, Beit Arye, Beit El, Giva’at Ze’ev, Ma’ale Adumin, Oranit, Salit, Sha’arei Tikva, and Zufin. All of these settlements are illegal under international law and they contribute to the dispossession and oppression of Palestinians.
As people who care about Re/Max’s reputation and about respect for international law, we ask that the company establish and disseminate clear policies and guidelines for all Re/Max brokers and agents stating that they should not sell, rent, or publicize properties that are built on illegally seized land in conflict zones. Further, members of the Re/Max network should not refer clients to brokers and agents who are involved with such illegal properties
Call-In Script to Your Local RE/MAX Office
My name is [YOUR NAME] and I am calling to voice my concern over RE/MAX. International’s practices in the Occupied West Bank. While I know your individual franchise has little to do with RE/MAX Israel’s operations, as part of the RE/MAX family you are indirectly and perhaps directly profiting from the sale of illegal properties in a conflict zone at the expense of the widespread displacement and oppression of Palestinian people.
We would love to meet with you to discuss these issues. In the meantime,we would be happy to send you more information about RE/MAX’s operations in the West Bank.
